Psychiatric Services for Children, Adolescents & Adults

My Approach to Treatment

Thoughtful
Evaluation

Every patient is unique. I take the time to understand your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, strengths, goals, and prior treatment experiences before making recommendations. A careful, comprehensive evaluation is the foundation of effective psychiatric care and helps ensure that treatment is tailored to your individual needs.

Medication
Management

Medication can be an important part of treatment, but I believe it should be prescribed thoughtfully and only when it is clinically indicated. When medication is appropriate, I take the time to discuss the expected benefits, potential side effects, and available alternatives so that patients and families can make informed decisions. Treatment decisions are made collaboratively and are guided by your individual goals and preferences.

Supportive
Psychotherapy

In addition to medication management, I incorporate supportive psychotherapy into treatment to help patients better understand their experiences, strengthen coping skills, navigate life’s challenges, and work toward meaningful personal goals. Therapy and medication often complement one another, but every treatment plan is individualized based on each patient’s unique needs.

Collaborative
Care

I believe the best outcomes often come from coordinated care. With your permission, I work closely with therapists, pediatricians, primary care physicians, school personnel when appropriate, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, well-coordinated treatment. Clear communication among everyone involved in your care helps support more effective and consistent treatment.

Yes. OCD is a particular area of focus in my practice. I provide comprehensive evaluation and medication management for children, adolescents, and adults with OCD, including individuals with complex or difficult-to-treat symptoms. When appropriate, I collaborate closely with therapists providing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to ensure that medication and therapy work together as part of a coordinated treatment plan.

Yes. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for children, adolescents, and adults.

Both in-person and virtual appointments are available. In most cases, you can choose whichever format you prefer. However, there may be situations where I strongly recommend an in-person appointment when I believe it would be clinically beneficial or necessary for your care.

I see patients in person on Long Island, New York, and in Teaneck, New Jersey. I also provide telehealth appointments for patients who are physically located in New York, New Jersey, Florida, California, Pennsylvania, and Colorado at the time of their appointment.

Insurance participation varies depending on your insurance plan and the state in which you receive care. I participate with select insurance plans and also welcome self-pay patients. If I am out of network with your insurance, I offer a complimentary service that submits superbills to your insurance company on your behalf to help you access any out-of-network reimbursement available under your plan. This service is provided at no additional cost to you. Please contact the practice to discuss your specific insurance coverage and payment options.

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We’ll discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, family history, and treatment goals. We’ll then review my impressions and recommendations together. Medication is not automatically recommended, and any decision to start or adjust medication is made collaboratively based on your symptoms, preferences, and individual needs.

My practice is primarily focused on psychiatric evaluation and medication management. I do not offer therapy-only appointments. However, medication is only one part of treatment, and medication management visits may also include supportive psychotherapy, education, problem-solving, and skill-building when appropriate. I also frequently collaborate with patients’ individual therapists to provide coordinated, comprehensive care.

The frequency of follow-up appointments is individualized and depends on your specific needs. For most patients, monthly appointments are standard at the beginning of treatment, particularly when symptoms remain active or medications are being started or adjusted. As symptoms stabilize and treatment becomes well established, visits can often be spaced further apart. For most patients, the longest interval between appointments is approximately every three months, although this may vary depending on your clinical circumstances.

The first step is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. During that conversation, we’ll briefly discuss your concerns, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether my practice may be a good fit for your needs. If we decide to move forward, I’ll send you intake forms, including background questionnaires and consent forms, to complete at your convenience. Once the completed forms are submitted, I’ll give you a call to schedule your initial psychiatric evaluation.
